Job Opening: Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

Assists in supervising store employees and participates in the day-to-day operations of the store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include ensuring the accountability and security of cashier funds, maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise, assisting customers in locating items and prices, explaining store policies, resolving routine problems, performing special assignments, and assuming the responsibilities of the Store Manager when needed. Maintains a positive working atmosphere by acting and communicating professionally, fostering good relationships with vendors, donors, customers, beneficiaries, coworkers, and management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics principles and practices.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to operate a cash register accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change accurately and promptly.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Experience in retail is preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

None required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must meet attendance requirements and work well with a variety of personalities in a positive manner. Physical effort includes sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light objects (generally less than 25 lbs.), which may constitute 75-100% of work time. Work is performed in a typical store environment with minimal weather-related discomforts.
