Overview

At Sprouts Farmers Market, the Assistant Store Manager is responsible for directing all business processes at their assigned store and delivering positive results. The role requires competence in all departments, both perishable and non-perishable, to ensure the team executes programs and processes that drive sales and efficiency. They inspire and motivate a team committed to providing superior customer service in a fast-paced environment, complying with safety, labeling, health, and weights and measures standards. They also oversee the store in the absence of the Store Manager. This position focuses on driving store sales, team engagement, and customer advocacy through strong leadership.

Responsibilities
  1. Shape store culture by modeling leadership behaviors aligned with Sprouts values.
  2. Develop the leadership team to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  3. Lead a team of approximately ten, including Department Managers and Receivers, with respect and integrity.
  4. Motivate and develop management by embracing Sprouts leadership behaviors.
  5. Celebrate successes and seek perpetual improvement.
  6. Enhance customer satisfaction by exceeding expectations.
  7. Demonstrate product knowledge when assisting customers and training staff.
  8. Communicate expectations, policies, and product knowledge effectively.
  9. Provide and receive constructive feedback for effective collaboration.
  10. Address emergencies and resolve issues promptly.
  11. Manage inventory, labor, and expenses to meet sales targets (P&L ownership).
  12. Ensure safety and food safety compliance through audits.
  13. Address safety, security, and loss prevention concerns.
  14. Ensure compliance with all legal and company standards regarding labor, health, and safety.
  15. Drive sales growth and store experience, focusing on standards and conditions.
  16. Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and rotation, with attention to sanitation and freshness.
  17. Oversee invoicing and report discrepancies.
  18. Lead backroom organization, cleanliness, and safety.
  19. Maintain sales floor displays according to standards.
  20. Ensure product freshness, labeling, and accurate pricing.
Qualifications
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in related fields preferred.
  • 1-3 years retail experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven success in leading department operations with integrity.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR software.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain Food Safety certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, standing, and walking.
