Job summary

Staples, Inc. in Augusta, ME is seeking an Assistant Manager to drive sales, service and customer engagement in-store.

You and your team will build loyalty by delivering total solutions that meet customers' needs while maintaining a positive, inclusive store culture. As a key leader, you will guide a high-performing team, coach staff, manage daily operations, and achieve sales goals while ensuring a safe, efficient shopping environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years managing a sales team in retail or services.
• Experience coaching a team in a customer-centric, solutions-based environment.
• Ability to engage with customers and understand their needs.
• Strong communication, organization, planning and adaptability.
• Review results against goals and develop improvement plans.
• Manage conflict in a cooperative manner.
• Physical ability to lift/move 10–50 pounds, climb ladders, stand/walk.

Responsibilities

• Develop a high-performing team through coaching, training, and role playing.
• Attain sales/service goals, profit margin and store operations execution.
• Provide direction for merchandising opportunities and daily operations.
• Assist with delegating operational tasks with the GM.

Essential skills and experience:

• 2+ years managing a sales team in a retail or services industry
• Experience managing and coaching a team in a customer-centric, solutions-based environment
• Must be able to engage and speak to customers and understand their needs
• Strong communication, organization, planning and adaptive to changing business priorities
• Review results against business goals and strategies and deliver plans for growth and improvement
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Ability to lift/move materials in the 10 - 50 pound range,climb ladders, stand and walk continuously
