Assistant Store Leader (Finance)



Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation/human resources. Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration & Human Resource-related duties. Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience as a department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval

Desired Qualifications:

  • Retail management experience & knowledge of all aspects of store operations
  • Staff supervisory experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist store manager & associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience & developing associate interest in customer service/relations to enhance Kroger's reputation
  • Assist store manager in leading teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising/operating initiatives
  • Assist store manager with developing action plans/communications based on Associate Insight survey results
  • Identify store opportunities, develop solutions & create action plans for implementation
  • Model and demand high levels of customer service & resolve associate/customer issues
  • Manage total store operations in store manager’s absence
  • Achieve/exceed sales, wage, profit budgets, safety, and shrink targets
  • Drive sales through department collaboration to maximize sales & profits, reduce shrink, and improve contribution
  • Participate in financial discussions & budget development with store staff
  • Analyze and respond to the competitive landscape
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership & promote inclusive behavior
  • Utilize staff to ensure departmental sales/profit goals & execution of merchandising plans
  • Build relationships with community organizations & union representatives if applicable
  • Communicate effectively with staff & serve as a liaison with management
  • Assist in staffing, reducing turnover, and increasing retention
  • Provide performance feedback & manage labor & supply costs
  • Ensure compliance with laws & policies
  • Supervise and coach staff, conduct performance reviews, and provide feedback
