Job summary

The Clinton County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking an attorney to serve as an Assistant State’s Attorney. The role involves prosecuting criminal matters and managing an assigned caseload with limited supervision.

Ideal candidates will have a JD, Illinois license, strong written/oral communication, and proven courtroom advocacy. Experience in juvenile cases and trials is preferred.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Illinois.
• Strong written and oral communication, courtroom advocacy, organizational, and technology skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and prosecute a variety of criminal cases with a focus on juvenile (JA and JD) cases.
• Prepare for and conduct hearings and trials.
• Prepare charging documents, motions, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and apply Illinois law.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, defense counsel, the judiciary, and the public.
• Manage an assigned caseload and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the State’s Attorney.
