Job summary

The City of San Antonio seeks a supervisory leader for the Solid Waste Management Department to plan and direct residential waste, recycling, organics, and brush programs. Work location is Culebra Warehouse in San Antonio, with a 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday schedule. Requires a Bachelor's degree, two years of supervisory experience in solid waste/public works,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience in solid waste, recycling, brush collection, automated garbage collection, or public works administration.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily operations of the assigned service area or special programs.
• Plan, direct, schedule and assign work of crews through subordinate supervisors.
• Develop long-term plans and programs for the district area.
• Inspect routes and landfills to ensure compliance with state and federal rules.
• Respond to citizen complaints and supervise staff.
• Develop programs to improve safety and conduct safety training.
• Coordinate activities with other departments and outside agencies.
• Monitor the budget for the assigned service area and prepare reports.
