Qualifications

• First aid, CPR and AED certification or willingness to complete within one month.
• Meet SACS credentialing requirements for instructors/coaches.
• Knowledge of NJCAA rules.
• Knowledge of softball, recruiting, conditioning, and curriculum.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows.
• Strong organization, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work with elite student athletes.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter, independent and collaborative.

Assistant Softball Coach

Indian River State College is seeking a passionate and motivated Assistant Softball Coach to support the Head Coach with recruitment, training, game‑day operations, and curriculum development. Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, this position assists the Head Softball Coach on organizational and coaching aspects of the softball program for the College.

Responsibilities

• Talk with and recruit prospective softball players for the College.
• Train and condition team members.
• Assist with game day functions.
• Assist the Coach in teaching and modifying curriculum.
• Develop and implement all training for athletes in the program on a yearly basis, including conditioning and technical aspects of softball.
• Recruit athletes via telephone calls, written communication, and campus visits.
• Coordinate and run summer camp programs for local community members.
• Manage game day operations for each contest.
• Work as part of a team to support student success, retention, and completion.
• Respond to fluctuating hours as needed.
• Drive as assigned.
• Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of collegiate or club coaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• First aid, CPR and AED certification (or willingness to complete testing within one month of hire).
• Meet the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS) credentialing requirements for instructors/coaches.
• Knowledge of NJCAA governing rules.
• Knowledge of softball, recruiting athletes, conditioning, and teaching related curriculum.
• Skill in Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
• Skill in organizing, leading others, efficiently using resources, and prioritizing.
• Ability to work with elite collegiate student athletes.
• Attention to detail, self‑starter, independent and team‑player, decision‑maker, and self‑motivated.

Physical Demands

This position is classified as light work involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time and frequent handling of objects up to 10 pounds. It requires a good deal of walking or standing, occasional pushing and pulling, and often sitting most of the time.

Salary

Pay range starts at: $40,570.96. All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate’s education and experience.
