Job summary

Towson University Athletics invites applications for an Assistant Softball Coach. The role provides skill instruction for student-athletes and participates in all aspects of practice and game coaching under the head coach.

You will recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes, organize official visits, manage travel itineraries and budgetary elements, and ensure NCAA compliance. Additional duties include academic support, fundraising, outreach, and scouting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• One year of softball coaching experience at camp/clinic, high school, or collegiate level preferred.
• Strong understanding of NCAA rules and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide skill instruction for student athletes and participate in practice and game coaching.
• Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes; organize official visits and travel itineraries; manage budget elements for visits.
• Assist with academic support, fundraising, and community outreach; coordinate with Total Tiger Program records.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities for the Assistant Softball Coach include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provides skill instruction for student athletes, including independent planning and implementation of a season-long plan for a set group of athletes
• Participates in all aspects of practice instruction and game coaching
• Under the direction of the head coach, recruits and evaluates prospective student-athletes; organizes official visits, including assigning hosts, creating travel itineraries and managing all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations; tracks all admissions through the application process of our prospective student-athletes; and provides instruction to student-athlete hosts on department/NCAA policies & procedures for a visit
• Assists with academic support, fundraising activities, and community servicing including communication and outreach to alumni
• Coordinates with Total Tiger Program Director to track and maintain accurate records of all student-athlete participation in Total Tiger programs
• Assists in all team operations including travel, bus, hotel, and restaurant plans
• Maintains video system
• Assists in creating scouting reports
• Maintains knowledge and adherence to NCAA rules, including completing monthly logs and summaries in correspondence with the Compliance Office
• Performs other duties as assigned

The work hours for this positioninclude nights and weekends, as required by the athletics schedule. Travel is required.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• One year of successful softball coaching experience at the camp/clinic, high school, or collegiate level
• Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualification:

• Softball coaching experience at the Division I level
