Job summary

Berry College in Georgia seeks an assistant softball coach for a 10-month position reporting to the Head Softball Coach. The role involves assisting with organization, supervision, and administration of the NCAA Division III program, and supporting student-athletes’ academic progress under NCAA and institutional rules.

The successful candidate will contribute to recruitment, budget management, practice prep, and travel logistics, with responsibilities expanding to areas aligned with their skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• Experience coaching at the NCAA Division III level is preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and Division III athletics.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with organization, supervision, and administration of the NCAA Division III softball program.
• Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
• Assist with budget management, practice and game preparation, and travel logistics.
• Coordinate strength & conditioning, marketing, alumni relations, equipment management and event planning.
• Support student-athletes' academic progress and degree completion.

Job description

This is a 10-month position as an assistant softball coach with additional responsibilities to be assigned depending on the successful candidate's skill set and experience. Reporting to the Head Softball Coach, the candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the organization, supervision, and administration of the NCAA Division III intercollegiate softball program. The candidate will also demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to a liberal arts education, Division III athletics, and an appreciation for and commitment to all NCAA, Southern Athletic Association (SAA), and institutional rules and regulations. Other duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes, budget management, practice and game preparation, strength & conditioning, marketing, alumni relations, equipment management, community service coordinating, event planning, travel logistics, film exchange and scouting, and a commitment to the student-athletes' academic progress and degree completion. Along with coaching responsibilities, the candidates will be assigned additional responsibilities dependent on the successful candidates' skill set and experience.

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Previous coaching and teaching experience on the NCAA Division III collegiate level is preferred. The candidate should also possess good communication skills and strong leadership and mentoring abilities, supporting the vision and goals of the program. Offense, outfield specialties, and computer skills preferred. This position includes competitive benefits and a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
