Job summary

Arkansas State University Three Rivers is recruiting for an Assistant Softball Coach, to provide support to the head coach in all aspects of the athletic program, with a focus on specific sports or areas of responsibility. The Assist Coach will provide support in player development, practice planning, and game strategy.

Collaborate with the coaching staff to conduct training sessions and drills that enhance player skills and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the head softball coach with instructing student athletes in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head softball coach.
• Assesses players' skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head softball coach informed of performance.
• Assists with determining game strategy in conjunction with the head softball coach.
• Assists the head softball coach with supervising student athletes during practices, competition, overnight stays, other events, and with academic progress.
• Models appropriate ethical/professional behavior and conduct towards players, officials, spectators, parents, and college staff.
• Maintains confidentiality when dealing with information exposed in the course of duties.
• Maintains equipment, uniforms, workout gear, and storage area in a clean and orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
• Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to student athletes as directed by the head coach.

Assist in recruiting efforts, including scouting and evaluating potential student-athletes. Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, providing guidance and support both on and off the field. Assist in administrative tasks such as scheduling, equipment management, and compliance with league regulations. Contribute to the overall success and positive culture of the athletic program through teamwork and dedication.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists the head softball coach with instructing student athletes in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Satisfactory written and oral communication skills are required. Must have ability to communicate effectively both within and outside the college including, but not limited to, student athletes, parents, recruits, civic and business leaders. Ability to work as a support individual within a group setting. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or related field.

Preferred Qualifications include a Master's degree and collegiate playing experience and/or 2 years of coaching experience.
