Job summary

The City of Orlando is seeking a skilled Sign Fabrication Technician to assist with design, layout and fabrication of traffic control and special signage for installation around the city. You will work with vehicle lettering, window layouts, and custom signage using a computerized graphics design arts station and hand drawn artwork.

Responsibilities include general maintenance on machines, inventory management for sign materials, and weekend/holiday shifts for events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 6 months of experience in Sai Flexi Software or sign fabrication.
• Associate’s degree in the graphic arts field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Florida Intermediate TTC or MOT certification required within 6 months of hire.

Job Summary

Performs responsible technical work by assisting with the design, layout and fabrication of all traffic control and special signage manufactured for installation in the City. Involved in vehicle lettering, window layouts, and custom signage using a computerized graphics design arts station and through hand drawn artwork. Performs general maintenance on all machines pertinent to the job and maintains an inventory of all supplies associated with sign fabrication and street name work orders. Required to work weekends and holidays to assist in special events, required to perform some sign installations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Signs and Markings Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate/G.E.D. and 6 months of experience working with Sai Flexi Software or in Sign Fabrication is required ; or an Associate’s degree in the graphic arts field required ; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Florida Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) or Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification required within 6 months of hire.
