Job summary

Dee Zee, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Shift Manager to guide production employees in a manufacturing environment, ensuring adherence to cost, quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Guide production employees in accordance with cost, quality and quantity specifications and safety procedures.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all departments to meet production goals.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in production or processing of goods.
  • Inspect materials, products, equipment and facilities to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Investigate and resolve worker problems, complaints or issues before elevating to management.
  • Monitor equipment and production performance (e.g., OEE/line efficiency) to ensure standards are met.
  • Recommend or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
  • Send shift handoff form via email detailing production data and issues from prior shifts.
  • Track, submit and approve attendance and hours through timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Conduct employee training on equipment and operations in terms of quality and safety procedures.
  • Confer with production management to coordinate operations within and between shifts.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Shift Manager is esponsible for guiding production employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment in accordance with cost, quality & quantity specifications and safety procedures.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all other departments in order to meet production goals.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as assemblers, inspectors, machine setters and fabricators.
  • Inspect materials, products, equipment and building facilities to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Investigate and resolve worker problems, complaints or issues before raising to upper management.
  • Monitor equipment and production performance (e.g., OEE/line efficiency) to ensure standards are met.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and efficiency.
  • Send shift handoff form via email, detailing production data, problems from prior shifts and any other applicable information.
  • Track, submit and approve attendance and hours worked through company time keeping system and payroll system.
  • Conduct employee training on equipment and operations in terms of quality in station work procedures and safety procedures, or assign employee training to other certified trainers.
  • Confer with production management to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and shifts.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment required; prior quality or leadership expereince preferred.
  • Familiarity with equipment and tools being used.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles, budgeting, resource allocation and human resources.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Strong team building, decision making and people management skills.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and the ability to learn and adapt to new processes.
  • Ability to effectively manage people in a production environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
