Introduction

THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT TEMPORARY, CONTRACTUAL AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting certified eligible list may be used to staff several current and future vacancies for this position/function only. This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

POSITION DUTIES

The Revenue Administration Division is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to serve as an Assistant Section Manager in the Returns Processing Section. This is a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume position that requires someone with good attention to detail, and an ability to handle many high-level tasks while managing deadlines. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is able to adapt to change, and able to motivate people to achieve a high level of accurate and efficient production. This position is responsible for the direct supervision and daily operations of the Data Capture and Scanning Unit, Document Control Unit, and Error Correction Unit. The Assistant Section Manager is responsible for learning the duties of the Section Manager and effectively performing those duties in the absence of the Section Manager. This responsibility encompasses the processing of multiple tax types in a fast-paced and constantly evolving work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university.

Experience: Five years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, the practice of tax law, or general management. Three years of this experience must have involved supervising professional accountants or auditors; giving legal advice requiring the interpretation of tax laws in the capacity of a tax attorney; or must have been in a responsible administrative or management capacity sufficient to demonstrate capabilities of performing responsible staff work.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax forms, laws, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience working in COM Systems, including GPE tax system, BobJ/Data Warehouse,
  • MeF and Service Now.
  • Proficient working in MS Suite of Application, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience leading training (one-on -one and group settings)
  • Experience with handling large volumes of work and prioritizing
  • Excellent communication skills.
