Qualifications

Assistant Residential Supervisor

Pay Range: $21.75-$23.00/hour

Location: The Kennedy School-Middleton, MA

The Kennedy School is a 15-bed secure residential facility serving adolescent males ages 13–21 involved in the juvenile justice system. Our program provides assessment, treatment, education, counseling, and structured activities that help youth develop healthier decision‑making skills, accountability, and self‑reliance.

We are seeking an Assistant Residential Supervisor to support the Residential Supervisor in the day‑to‑day operation of the residential program. This position combines direct resident care with leadership and peer support for Residential Counselors while helping maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision, support, coaching, and advocacy to residents.
  • Model trauma‑informed care and support individualized treatment and behavioral plans.
  • Serve as an experienced resource and role model for Residential Counselors.
  • Help maintain program routines, procedures, safety practices, and resident expectations.
  • Support daily activities, appointments, transportation, medication processes, and other program needs.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral crises and emergencies, including approved de‑escalation and physical intervention techniques.
  • Complete required documentation and communicate important resident and program information to the treatment team.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new or less‑experienced direct‑care staff.
  • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, training, and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Residential treatment experience required.
  • Demonstrated competency as a Residential Counselor.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during crises and emergencies.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • MAP certification as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency documentation systems.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required agency and DYS training and certifications.
