POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA, invites applications for an Assistant Research Professor position in the J. A. Robinson Research Group. The successful candidate will conduct experimental research focused on the synthesis and characterization of two-dimensional (2D) materials and related heterostructures. The candidate will also help guide the group’s research activities, mentor graduate students and other junior researchers, and contribute to the preparation of research proposals, technical reports, publications, and presentations.

This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Applicants must have a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.

PRIORITY QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• Preferred candidates will have postdoctoral, industrial, or equivalent research experience beyond the Ph.D., along with demonstrated expertise in 2D materials synthesis and characterization.
• Experience coordinating collaborative research projects, mentoring graduate students, and contributing to sponsored-research proposals and reports is also preferred.
