Job summary

Omlohio is seeking an Assistant Service Director to oversee critical city services, including Public Service, Parks, Cemetery and Engineering. The role manages daily operations of utilities, public works, buildings, grounds, cemeteries, parks, roads, and other municipal spaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Public Administration or related field.
• At least five (5) years of experience working in utilities or public works for a public agency.
• A minimum of three (3) years' supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, submit and manage the annual department budget.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and sales representatives concerning equipment purchases, materials, necessary services and department contracts.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Engage in short and long-term planning for utilities and public works.
• Negotiate, develop and manage contracts and grants.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the bargaining unit, direct reports and the City Administrator.
• Deliver responsive, courteous, and efficient service to residents, contractors, and the public.
• Handle citizen complaints and attend public meetings.
• Administer construction contracts, and oversee engineering work through consulting engineers.
