Job summary

The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking an Assistant Public Safety Director to oversee department operations, manage day-to-day leadership, and coordinate public safety programs across town services. You will supervise staff, develop policies, and collaborate with the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Rescue, and state and federal agencies to protect residents and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of departmental programs, services, policies, procedures, performance standards, budgets, contracts, procurements, grants, and strategic initiatives
• Directs and coordinates day-to-day operations for assigned public safety functions, including community code enforcement, short-term rental enforcement, beach and park operations, marine-related activities, and beach pay-for-parking operations
• Supervises, coaches, trains, schedules, and evaluates assigned personnel
• Oversees enforcement and compliance activities
• Administers and coordinates public safety technology and security programs
• Coordinates public safety operations with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue, federal, state, and regional agencies, Town departments, contractors, and community partners
• Develops and reviews policies, procedures, administrative guidance, reports, presentations, performance measures, and recommendations
• Represents the Department and Town in meetings with residents, community organizations, governmental entities, contractors, and partner agencies

Join Our Team as the Assistant Public Safety Director The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Public Safety Directorto help manage Town-wide public safety programs and operations, provide day-to-day leadership, and coordinate initiatives.
