Job summary

Houston County Career Center is seeking an Assistant Public Defender at Grade 30 to provide effective legal representation for eligible defendants in criminal matters.

You will work under supervision of the Public Defender, handle pre-trial and trial proceedings, conduct investigations, interviews and prepare legal filings while maintaining client confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• One year of experience in practicing law, criminal defense, or related field.
• Must possess and maintain valid State Bar of Georgia license.

Responsibilities

• Provides legal representation to eligible defendants.
• Represents defendants in criminal trials and hearings.
• Conducts interviews, investigations and research for cases.
• Negotiates plea bargains and prepares for trials.
