Job summary

W.E. O’Neil seeks an Assistant Superintendent in Chicago to support the Senior Superintendent on field activities, manage schedules, and coordinate subcontractors.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and collaboration with project teams across budget ranges. Qualified candidates will have a four-year construction-related degree or equivalent field experience, plus OSHA 30 and CPR certification, with proficiency in common PM tools and scheduling software.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience in a related field or 3-5 years minimum of relevant project field experience, as a Field Engineer or equivalent
• Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiar with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or P6 and project mgmt software like Prolog, Viewpoint, CMiC
• Experience with daily software tools such as Bluebeam, Plan Grid, Safety Mojo, BIM 360 Glue
• OSHA 30-Hour Safety Course; First Aid and CPR certified
• Understanding of construction administration processes (RFIs, Submittals, procurement)

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Project Superintendent and team on field activities
• Develop and maintain project schedules
• Enforce site safety programs and SWPPP measures
• Coordinate procurement and deliveries of materials
• Prepare eight-week look-ahead schedules
• Document weekly Foreman meetings and site safety surveys
• Lead on-site safety meetings and align with safety standards
• Manage subcontractor activities and daily field communications
