Assistant Project Manager – Solar & Battery Storage Construction

Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will work alongside the Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of solar and battery storage construction projects. This role involves coordinating contractors, monitoring project performance, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards, and keeping projects on time and within budget. The position requires close collaboration with senior project managers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to maintain project momentum and achieve high-quality results. Candidates with experience in construction management, renewable energy, and contractor oversight are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Contractor Oversight
    • Support the management of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
    • Monitor contractor performance against schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
    • Conduct periodic site visits to assess progress and compliance with project plans.
  • Project Coordination
    • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules.
    • Coordinate activities between contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
    • Track project milestones, risks, and issues, providing timely updates.
    • Support permitting, compliance, and regulatory processes.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain organized project records, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
    • Prepare regular updates for Project Managers and senior leadership.
    • Ensure all documentation meets company and regulatory requirements.
  • Budget & Cost Management
    • Review contractor invoices for accuracy and budget compliance.
    • Monitor project expenditures and report variances.
    • Contribute to cost estimates and budget development for upcoming projects.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.
    • Participate in audits and inspections to confirm compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
    • Escalate safety or quality concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    • Serve as a point of contact between contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
    • Facilitate project meetings and ensure clear communication of objectives and expectations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Construction Management, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field preferred).
  • 1–2 years of experience in construction management, project management, or a similar role.
  • Prior experience with solar or renewable energy projects strongly preferred.
  • NABCEP or other renewable energy credential desirable.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with construction safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability in dynamic project environments.
  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites for inspections and meetings.
