Job summary

Prudent Technologies and Consulting, Inc. seeks an Assistant Project Manager for MEP engineering in Houston, TX to support multidisciplinary design and delivery.

You will coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing efforts, track budgets and schedules, and mentor junior staff on project teams. The role requires a Texas PE or ability to obtain; 7+ years in MEP consulting; strong CAD/BIM skills, client-facing communication, and travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Active Texas PE license in Mechanical or Electrical.
• 7+ years in engineering with MEP consulting experience.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary MEP projects.
• Experience managing deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resources.

• Knowledge of building and energy codes, standards, and practices.
• Experience reviewing drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field reports.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
• Strong written and verbal client-facing communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and travel to sites.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Assistant Project Manager – MEP Engineering

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• Active Professional Engineer license in the State of Texas in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of progressive engineering experience, including substantial experience in an MEP consulting environment.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects.
• Experience managing project deliverables, schedules, budgets, priorities, and internal resources.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing technical direction to EITs, designers, and junior engineering staff.
• Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, energy codes, engineering standards, and construction practices.
• Experience reviewing construction documents, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and field reports.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and client-facing communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
• Ability to travel periodically to client meetings and project sites.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing or managing MEP projects for K–12 schools, colleges, universities, or other educational facilities.
• Experience serving as the primary day-to-day client contact on engineering projects.
• Experience developing project fees, scopes of work, staffing plans, or proposals.
• Experience managing projects through both design and construction administration.
• Strong proficiency with Revit-based project delivery.
• Familiarity with Texas school district design standards and project requirements.
