Job summary

MSS Solutions, LLC seeks an HVAC project/engineering support to assist in design, project management, and coordination with clients, vendors, and subcontractors for facility projects in North Carolina. The role involves determining mechanical construction needs, equipment specifications, and procurement, with emphasis on cost control and accurate documentation.

The position requires a Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience, knowledge of HVAC systems and Building Automation, and

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, energy modeling and savings calculations, construction drawings, and project specifications.
• Knowledge of applied HVAC equipment systems, Building Automation Systems, and related support services.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and project management of HVAC systems, coordinating with PMs, clients, vendors and subcontractors.
• Assist in determining mechanical construction needs to meet facility requirements.
• Coordinate with sales to provide data for project scope.
• Coordinate project-specific engineering and develop scope of work and specifications.
• Work with project schedule and engineering to determine equipment specs and procure materials.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders for subcontractors.
• Provide closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
• Review and maintain cost estimates for materials and subcontractors.
• Assist in pricing of purchased equipment and optimize job costs.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and project management of HVAC systems, including planning, organizing, and executing facility projects while maintaining close interaction with other Project Managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assist in determining mechanical construction needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customer's facility requirements.
• Assist with coordinating with sales to provide data needed to assemble project scope.
• Coordinate project‑specific engineering.
• Develop scope of work and project specifications.
• Work with the project schedule.
• Work with engineering to determine equipment specifications and procure materials.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders for subcontractors.
• Provide complete closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
• Assist in reviewing and maintaining cost estimates of material, sub‑contractors, purchased equipment, and other project‑related activities.
• Work with engineering on the specification and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
• Optimize job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub‑contractors.
• Document work by maintaining files for each job.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

• Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Frequent standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in‑person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use.

Work Environment

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places (job sites) and/or an office environment with conditioned air and bright lights.
