Job summary

McClelland Consulting Engineers (MCE), an ESP Company, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to oversee land development projects in Arkansas, including site design for buildings, recreation facilities and trails, and to monitor progress against the project plan.

The role involves preparing construction documents with AutoCAD Civil 3D, coordinating with the project team, and reviewing plan comments to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture (Strongly Preferred).
  • 4-5 years of related experience.
  • PE or PLA licensure or ability to obtain licensure preferred (Arkansas licensure preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction documents for site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D; documents include site plan, grading and drainage, utilities, erosion control, plan sheets and details.
  • Coordinate with the project team to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Complete plan review comments from internal QC and city review processes.
  • Prepare written communications, applications and reports.
  • Review and ensure compliance with municipal zoning ordinances, geotechnical reports, and codes.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to identify opportunities/constraints and assist in meetings and submittals.
  • Prepare for, attend, and lead meetings with clients and stakeholders.

Summary

Assistant Project Manager (APM) designs construction projects dealing with Land Development projects such as site design for new buildings, recreational facilities, trails, drainage and other site related projects. In addition, the Assistant Project Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.

Responsibilities
  • Develop construction documents for site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Construction document sets include site plan, grading and drainage, utility, erosion control, plan sheets and applicable details
  • Coordinate with the project team to develop and complete projects on time and on budget
  • Complete plan review comments from internal quality control process and from the city review process
  • Prepare written communications, applications, and reports
  • Review and implement municipal zoning ordinances, geotechnical reports, as well as state and federal codes to ensure project compliance
  • Work in partnership with engineering staff to identify opportunities and constraints for development sites, assist in municipal meetings and submittals, and complete plan revisions as needed to obtain project approval
  • Preparing for, attending and leading meetings with internal and external clients
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture (Strongly Preferred)

Travel will be expected for this position but will not require regular overnight stays.
