Job summary

McClelland Consulting Engineers (MCE) — an ESP Company — seeks a Construction Project Manager in Fayetteville, AR to lead engineering support during design and construction. You will collaborate with Project Managers, Designers and field personnel to ensure successful project delivery and field execution.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture (strongly preferred), 5 years of related experience, and Arkansas PE licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Design Support: Provide technical engineering support throughout project design.
  • Assist with grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and roadway design.
  • Develop and review engineering calculations and technical analyses.
  • Perform quality control reviews of plans, specifications, and calculations.
  • Assist Project Managers in resolving complex engineering challenges.
  • Serve as the primary engineering contact during construction.
  • Manage construction administration activities for assigned projects.
  • Review and process shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs.
  • Coordinate design clarifications and revisions resulting from field conditions.
  • Evaluate contractor requests and recommend engineering solutions.
  • Participate in construction meetings and site observations.
  • Review change orders and assist in evaluating impacts to project scope.
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies throughout construction.
  • Support project closeout, punch lists, and record drawing documentation.
  • Partner with Project Managers to ensure a seamless transition from design into construction.
  • Coordinate with survey, geotechnical, structural, environmental, and utility disciplines.
  • Identify project risks and resolve technical issues before they affect schedule or budget.
  • Assist with engineering design and Civil 3D production during peak workloads.
  • Mentor Civil Designers and junior engineers.
  • Promote consistent engineering practices across project teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of construction administration procedures and technical standards.
  • Construction projects are managed proactively with timely responses to contractors and clients.

Summary

The Construction project manager serves as the technical and construction delivery lead for multiple land development project teams. This position provides engineering expertise during design while assuming primary responsibility for engineering support throughout construction.

Working alongside Project Managers and Designers, the Construction Project Manager helps resolve complex technical challenges, supports design development, and ensures projects are successfully executed in the field. Once projects move into construction, this role becomes the primary engineering point of contact for contractors, owners, and internal teams, managing day-to-day construction administration activities and coordinating technical responses.

By leading engineering support during construction, the Construction Project Manager allows Project Managers to remain focused on project planning, client relationships, new project delivery, and design production while maintaining continuity and responsiveness throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities
