Our growth and success have been optimized by retention of experienced, long-term employees, prompt responsiveness to customers’ needs, exceptional service and workmanship, and the highest degree of commitment to safety in the work environment.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and participate in E-Verify.

About this Role

Flare Construction has been building heavy civil and energy infrastructure since 1976. Today, as part of Quanta Services, we bring the backing of a Fortune 500 company to projects that still run on the same principles we started with: safety, craftsmanship, and doing right by the people on the crew.

We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager I to support the planning, execution, and closeout of high-pressure gas pipeline and facility construction projects across the western U.S. Working under the direction of a Project Manager or APM II, you'll assist with scheduling, cost tracking, DOT documentation, and field coordination on pipeline construction, regulator stations, and maintenance programs. This is a foundational role with a direct path to APM II and Project Manager.

This position is office-based in Coalville, UT, with frequent travel to project sites. Some assignments may include extended field rotations.

Project Focus:

  • High-pressure gas pipeline construction and maintenance
  • Regulator station and facility construction support
  • Anomaly dig and gas system maintenance program coordination
  • DOT-regulated pipeline documentation and compliance support
  • Associated oil and gas construction projects
What You’ll Do

Both Levels

  • Support project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, documentation, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Attend project meetings, record minutes, and track action items.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Coordinate internal communications between estimating, field, and management teams.

APM I - You’ll focus on

  • Day-to-day project coordination tasks under direct PM supervision.
  • Building foundational knowledge of construction sequencing, contracts, and field operations.
  • Basic cost tracking, schedule monitoring, and material delivery coordination.

APM II - You’ll independently lead

  • Cost forecasting, budget variance analysis, and detailed financial reporting.
  • Interpretation of complex construction documents and engineering plans.
  • Direct coordination with licensed engineers, regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Guidance and support for APM I staff and project coordinators.
What You’ll Bring

APM I

APM I

  • 0–3 years in construction, utility project support, or a related field.
  • Active enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; comparable field experience accepted.
  • Internship or co-op experience in project coordination is a plus.
  • Familiarity with pipeline construction, DOT documentation, or gas utility operations a plus.
  • OSHA 10-Hour required or completed within 90 days of hire. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.

APM IIAPM

  • 2–5 years of progressive gas pipeline or utility construction experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project documentation, cost controls, and client coordination with increasing independence.
  • Familiarity with DOT Part 192/195, PHMSA regulations, OQ documentation, or weld integrity tracking.
  • HeavyBid estimating experience or exposure to gas pipeline construction estimating processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or closely related field required.
  • OSHA 10-Hour required; OSHA 30 preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
What You’ll Get
