Job summary

Basnight & Sons in Durham, NC, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support Division 8 and Division 10 projects from estimate through closeout. You will work with project managers, manufacturers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams while gaining exposure to the full project life cycle.

Two or more years of experience in doors and hardware, building materials, or a related industry, with strong organizational and communication skills is required.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in the door and hardware, building materials, construction, specialty products, or a related industry.
• Knowledge of commercial doors, frames, hardware, specialties, or related project workflows is preferred.
• Strong organization, communication, customer service, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with Division 8 and Division 10 project execution.
• Assist with take-offs, estimates, quotations, bid reviews, and project turnover activities.
• Help coordinate submittals, procurement, material orders, deliveries, schedules, and closeout documentation.
• Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, RFIs, change requests, and status updates.
• Monitor milestones and communicate potential issues to project leadership.
• Provide responsive customer and administrative support while collaborating across departments.

Basnight & Sons, a subsidiary of The Steel Network, Inc., is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support Division 8 and Division 10 projects from estimate through closeout. For more than 100 years, our team has built a reputation for quality, responsiveness, and trusted industry relationships.

This opportunity is designed for individuals with experience in commercial doors, frames, hardware, specialties, estimating, detailing, procurement, customer service, or project coordination who want to continue developing their project management careers. You will work closely with experienced Project Managers, manufacturers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams while gaining exposure to the full project life cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support Project Managers with Division 8 and Division 10 project execution.
• Assist with take-offs, estimates, quotations, bid reviews, and project turnover activities.
• Help coordinate submittals, procurement, material orders, deliveries, schedules, and closeout documentation.
• Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, RFIs, change requests, and status updates.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.
• Experience with Comsense, Pro-Tech, or similar software is preferred.
