Job summary

Patriot Erectors, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager across proposal, planning, execution and closeout. You will conduct site visits, track progress, and coordinate office and field teams to keep deliverables on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has about 5 years general project or construction experience, preferably in commercial steel fabrication, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Tekla and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret drawings and contract documents.
• Assist Project Managers and support staff in developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and activities.
• Coordinate with the shop, field teams, and customers to ensure deliverables remain on schedule and meet quality expectations.
• Formulate, organize, and track project requirements and progress as directed by the Project Manager.
• Review and evaluate vendor proposals.
• Set up and maintain project data and documentation in company systems.
• Assist the PM in establishing fabrication schedules, milestones, and objectives.
• Coordinate subcontractor activities and monitor performance.
• Provide regular progress and budget updates to the PM.
• Assist with preparing change orders and reviewing drawings.
• Establish and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and follow-up.
• Monitor and manage vendor performance and relationships.
• Prepare, present, and distribute project updates to the PM, internal teams, and customers.
• Conduct site visits to verify progress, address field issues, and ensure alignment with project plans.

The right candidate for this position is someone with extensive experience in Safety who will support our projects. This person will constantly be responsible for successfully integrating safety initiatives into the functional operation of the different projects by maintaining processes and procedures to prevent injuries and violations of the law or company policies and minimize the environmental impact of our operations.

About the role

Reporting to the DFW Division Manager, the Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in achieving project goals and objectives by planning, tracking, and reporting project activities. This role assists with all phases of a project, from proposal and planning through execution and closeout, while ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget. The position includes regular visits to active job sites to monitor progress, address field needs, and maintain coordination between office and field operations.

• 5 years of general project or construction experience; commercial steel fabrication experience strongly preferred.

• Experience with Tekla preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

• AISC Manual of Steel Construction is needed to create a conforming shop and erection drawings.
• Construction codes and practices.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience with FabSuite and Tekla preferred.
• Tekla Structures, Tekla EPM, and Trimble Connect software is a plus.
