Job summary

GCON is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support data center, mission-critical, and manufacturing projects in West Texas. This role focuses on teamwork, collaboration, and delivering project excellence on a major ground-up data center program in Fort Stockton.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial construction project management, experience with data center builds, and strong proficiency in scheduling, estimating, and coordination with trade partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial building general contractor project management.
• Experience with data center projects and mission critical environments.
• Proficiency with construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing complex, large-scale datacenter and mission-critical projects upwards to $100M+.
• Engage in preconstruction activities (estimating, buy out, logistics, scheduling, pursuits).
• Support the operational plan and assist the PM and BUL on new revenue pursuits and presentations.
• Support client relationships to help grow business portfolio and profitability.
• Coordinate oversight of contract staff (1099s & consultants).
• Provide constructability input by reviewing narratives, specs, and drawings.
• Support project closeout per GCON standards.
• Develop financial capabilities: budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and corrective actions.
• Support Last Planner System cadence and continuous improvement activities.
• Coach/project team on implementing a comprehensive Quality Control plan.
• Assist in completing Project Execution Plan and Risk Matrix.
• Identify exposures and assist in negotiations to maximize profitability.
