Job summary

Ascend Talent Solutions is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for our premier general contracting client in the San Jose area. You will support project managers on small-to-medium commercial renovation projects, coordinate with superintendents, architects, and subcontractors, and help build a capable project team.

This role requires 3-5 years construction experience, proficiency with PM tools (Microsoft Project, Procore, BlueBeam, PlanGrid), and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of construction experience including 2 years as a Project Engineer.
• Knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures including project estimating and scheduling.
• Proficiency with MS Office, OST, MS Project, Procore, BlueBeam, PlanGrid.
• Ability to communicate with clients in meetings and formal interviews.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to read architectural/engineering plans and specifications.
• Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and participating in staff reviews.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and attend job walks.
• Identify subs, prepare bidder RFPs, and qualify bids.
• Prepare subcontractor agreements and keep insurance certificates current.
• Assist with the permit process and city inspections.
• Prepare meeting minutes and weekly status reports.
• Identify, track, and assist with preparing project potential change orders (PCOs).
• Assist Project Managers with updating project budgets and forecasts.
• Track, review, and maintain RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and samples.
• Code all documents for jobsite filing.
• Complete project closeout documentation and assist in punch list tracking and review.
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the daily management of a variety of construction projects.
