Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Sterling HQ. You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to support preconstruction through completion on commercial mechanical projects.

This role emphasizes keeping projects on schedule and within budget, coordinating drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and documentation while traveling to DMV sites ~30–40%.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or in a construction administrative role.
• Familiarity with HVAC service and installation methods, equipment and tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with mechanical drawings and commercial construction projects.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with industry software such as Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Revit, and AutoCAD is a plus.
• Ability to manage project deadlines and stay organized.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with identifying and resolving project-related issues.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate updates as needed.
• Support project closeout activities and documentation.
• Help ensure projects are completed in accordance with VMG quality and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with industry software such as Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Revit, and AutoCAD is a plus.
• Ability to understand, prioritize, and manage project deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced construction environment and manage multiple priorities.

Location & Travel

This position is based at our HQ in Sterling, VA. The role also requires travel to project sites throughout the DMV area, which may account for approximately 30–40% of the position.
