Job summary

Pike Corporation in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support civil construction projects in the utility sector. You will assist with planning, estimating, budgeting, and scheduling, coordinating with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to keep work on schedule and within safety guidelines.

The role offers hands-on project exposure, travel as needed, and the chance to grow within a respected utility construction team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, utility projects or coordination roles.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CM tools is a plus.
  • Driver's license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with planning, execution, and closeout of utility projects.
  • Support estimating, budgeting, cost tracking, and scheduling activities.
  • Coordinate schedules, permits, resources, and documentation.
  • Monitor progress and help resolve schedule or budget issues.
  • Collaborate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Maintain records, reports, contracts, and change orders.
  • Ensure safety standards and project specs compliance.
  • Attend site visits as required.

Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support civil construction projects within the utility industry. This role will assist with project planning, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, and day-to-day project coordination to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is eager to build a career in construction management, possesses strong organizational skills, and can effectively communicate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers with planning, execution, and closeout of utility construction projects.
  • Support project estimating, budgeting, and cost tracking activities.
  • Coordinate schedules, resources, permits, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify and resolve issues affecting schedule or budget.
  • Work closely with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, contracts, and change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and project specifications.
  • Participate in site visits and travel as required to support ongoing projects.
Qualifications
  • Experience in construction, utility operations, project coordination, estimating, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software is a plus.
  • Software's used (can be taught if not familiar): Onscreen Takeoff, Procore, Excel, Google Earth
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
