Job summary

Kelso Building Services is seeking a Project Coordinator/Assistant to support project management activities in our construction projects. You will assist in budgeting, scheduling, subcontract development, and coordination with subcontractors, field staff, and accounting.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, with knowledge of MS Office and project management practices. HVAC knowledge and leadership ability are valued as you help ensure safety, quality, and on-time

Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience in project management or BS/BA degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field.
  • PMP, CCM, or an equivalent certification would be considered an asset.
  • OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR Training.
  • Commercial/Industrial HVAC knowledge.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role with strong and proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage time with a strong understanding of priorities in each phase of construction.
  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and plan ahead.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • Highly organized.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of HVAC safety and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with project management software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure important job information is gathered before construction phase.
  • Assist PM in preparing budgets.
  • Assist in developing and managing the construction schedule.
  • Develop and write subcontracts and purchase orders as requested.
  • Contractually and collaboratively manage subcontractors and their related performance.
  • Collect, organize, and distribute materials and equipment submittals as required.
  • Create and distribute RFIs for clarification of project specifics.
  • Work with PM and accounting to resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Collaboratively help price, negotiate, and formalize all changes in project scope.
  • Work closely with Superintendents on their requests for resources, materials, equipment, etc.
  • Manage safety, quality, and productivity of the project.
