Overview

Location: Varies depending on project site assignment (currently Midland/Odessa area, TX)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary Gemma is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to provide assistance with the overall health and execution of one of our active projects in the Midland/Odessa area of Texas. You will be responsible for making project-based decisions to the level of authority as determined by the Project Manager. The APM will also oversee project goals, analyze data from project execution, and support client & labor relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the onsite representative capable of making informed decisions and effectively communicating with Owner in absence of the Project Manager.
  • Oversee variable aspects of project and provide direct assistance to support project schedules & budget.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all construction activities.
  • Solicit quotes from subcontractors, review proposals, and assist in negotiating & executing project contracts while ensuring the best interest of Gemma.
  • Provide contract oversight to ensure fulfillment of key contract requirements, including reviewing monthly invoices with Owner and compiling monthly reports.
  • Ensure overall construction safety and project quality.
  • Manage onsite personnel, including any personnel issues that arise during the project’s course.
  • Provide estimating support for field activities, budgeting, and labor.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on monthly updates to the project cost forecasts.
  • Ensure accurate project forecasting by collaborating with Superintendents on updated completion estimates.
  • Coordinate with site personnel to ensure proper subcontract management.
  • Ensure timely & cost-effective procurement of field procured equipment, material, and subcontractors.
  • Organize & schedule ongoing subcontract coordination meetings, staff coordination meetings, and weekly project status meetings.
  • Develop & maintain strong relationships with clients.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management; or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of industry experience.
  • Training in cost & production forecasting, and Project Financials.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc., plus an in-depth understanding of interdependence & relationship between other functional units.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
  • Proven ability to lead & work with a team.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and time management skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Understands the business implications of decisions and possesses the ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to identify & resolve problems in a timely manner.
