Job summary

Qwest Electric LLC in Mooresville, NC is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support medium- to large-scale commercial electrical projects in the Charlotte metro area. You will work alongside Senior Project Managers and field leadership and grow toward a full Project Manager role.

Your duties include coordinating on-site and office tasks, reviewing drawings, schedules, contracts, and submittals; preparing RFIs and change orders; tracking logs; and supporting cost tracking and monthly billing,

Qualifications

• 2+ years in commercial electrical construction, project coordination, or assistant PM work.
• Experience on medium- to large-scale commercial projects.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar tools.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field.

Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Electrical Construction

Qwest Electric LLC | Mooresville, NC (Charlotte metro) | On-site / jobsite travel

Qwest Electric is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support medium- to large-scale commercial electrical projects in the Charlotte metro area. We are a commercial and industrial electrical contractor known for design-build and design-assist work on projects such as distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, healthcare facilities, schools, data centers and institutional buildings. This role sits alongside Senior Project Managers and field leadership and is built for someone who wants to grow into a Project Manager.

What you'll do

You'll help keep projects organized, documented, and moving from startup through closeout:

• Support daily project management and coordination on commercial electrical jobs
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scope
• Prepare, submit, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and purchase orders
• Maintain project logs for RFIs, submittals, procurement, equipment, and changes
• Assist with material takeoffs, purchasing, equipment releases, and delivery coordination
• Coordinate with GCs, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams
• Help maintain schedules, look-aheads, and milestone dates
• Attend meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items
• Track manpower, production, progress, and upcoming field needs
• Assist with cost tracking, labor projections, forecasting, and monthly billing
• Flag drawing conflicts, scope gaps, schedule risks, and potential change-order work
• Help price change orders and assemble supporting documentation
• Keep field teams supplied with current drawings, approved submittals, and install info
• Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and closeout
• Assist with as-builts, warranties, training documents, and O&M manuals
• Visit jobsites as needed and keep project files accurate and organized

What we’re looking for

Preferred (not required):

• 2+ years in commercial electrical construction, project coordination, or assistant PM work
• Experience on medium- to large-scale commercial projects
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar tools
• Electrical field experience
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field

Required:

• Basic understanding of commercial electrical systems and construction processes (or a strong willingness to learn)
• Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchasing, billing, or cost tracking
• Ability to read—or learn to read- electrical drawings, specs, and schedules
• Strong organization, communication, time management, and follow-through
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Valid driver’s license and ability to visit project sites

Compensation & benefits

• Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 (depending on experience)

You keep the Project Manager and field team organized. You anticipate what's coming next, raise issues early, and close out assigned tasks. Over time, you take on more ownership and develop toward a Project Manager role.
