Job summary

Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Kalamazoo to support commercial construction delivery from preconstruction through closeout.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and stakeholders to maintain schedules, control costs, and ensure quality and safety across the project lifecycle. The role requires collaborating with field and office teams, reviewing drawings, and assisting with procurement, change orders, and budget updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
• 3–6 years of experience supporting commercial construction projects with a general contractor.
• Working knowledge of means/methods, schedules, contracts, and documentation.
• Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preconstruction activities, bidding, subcontracting, and procurement.
• Coordinate project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, schedules, cost logs, and notes.
• Support field and office teams with schedule updates and design clarifications.
• Track progress, milestones, and cost projections; help with job cost reviews.
• Review drawings and specs to identify issues needing clarification.
• Help manage change orders, pay applications, and budget updates.
• Participate in quality reviews, site walks, and safety coordination.
• Assist closeout by assembling warranties, punch lists, turnover docs.
