Job summary

Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. in Grand Rapids is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and stakeholders to help maintain schedules, control costs, manage documentation, and uphold quality and safety standards across the project lifecycle. Responsibilities include assisting with preconstruction, procurement, documentation, and cost tracking,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or preferred in construction-related field.
• 3–6 years of experience supporting commercial construction projects with a general contractor.
• Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preconstruction activities, bidding, subcontracting, and procurement.
• Coordinate project documentation including RFIs, submittals, schedules, cost logs, and meeting notes.
• Support field and office teams by communicating schedule updates, material needs, and design clarifications.
• Track project progress, milestones, and cost projections; support job cost reviews.
• Review drawings and specifications to identify issues requiring clarification.
• Help manage change orders, pay applications, and budget updates.
• Participate in quality reviews, site walks, and safety coordination efforts.
• Support project closeout by assembling warranties, punch lists, and turnover documentation.

What we’re looking for
