OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Project Manager helps plan and coordinate electric infrastructure projects and independently manages assigned project elements to support completion on time and within budget. The role supports project managers while taking direct responsibility for selected project tasks, deliverables, schedules, reporting, financial tracking, stakeholder coordination, and project documentation.

  • Coordinate and manage assigned project tasks and deliverables and assist project managers in achieving project objectives.
  • Review project goals, milestones, schedules, and assigned work to help ensure project objectives are achievable and progressing as planned.
  • Set up and conduct project status and issue meetings; prepare and distribute meeting notes and follow up on action items.
  • Create and deliver project performance, status, financial, and closeout reports.
  • Provide monthly spending projections and expenditure reports; track actual expenditures against budget and identify potential overruns.
  • Review invoices and analyze project expenditures for accuracy and appropriate charging.
  • Prepare preliminary and/or detailed estimates and cash flows and coordinate with design and construction units in support of estimates.
  • Maintain project schedules, contracts, invoices, reports, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding project status, deliverables, issues, and details.
  • Coordinate project initiation activities and work with appropriate accounting functions to establish project and task numbers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration is required or a combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Degrees in related disciplines may be considered. An advanced degree may be considered as one year of experience.
  • 2-4 years of related electric utility experience is required.
  • CAPM and Agile fundamentals are preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical methodology to problem solving and decision making and relate technical concepts to practical application.
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills and ability to produce accurate results in a data-intensive environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, customers, stakeholders, and the general public, orally and in writing, while maintaining professionalism.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and project management, scheduling, analytical, financial, and tracking/reporting software appropriate to assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material and confidential business data with integrity.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities accurately and timely within established guidelines while providing superior customer service.
