Just Construction Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to work with a Southwest Florida General Contractor on commercial projects. This hands-on role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors and clients throughout the life of a project.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of commercial construction experience, reads plans and specs, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with an ownership mindset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction experience.
• General Contractor experience preferred.
• Experience with multifamily, hospitality/hotel, medical office buildings or similar commercial projects is highly desirable.
• Multifamily experience involving masonry and precast/block-and-plank construction is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and construction documents.
• Strong subcontractor and project-team coordination skills.
• Organized, proactive and detail-oriented.
• Strong communication and follow-through.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
• A hands-on mentality and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager with day-to-day management of commercial construction projects.
• Assist with projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Coordinate with Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, vendors and clients.
• Manage and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and project documentation.
• Assist with procurement, material tracking and subcontractor coordination.
• Review plans, specifications and scopes to identify potential issues.
• Assist with change orders and project cost tracking.
• Support project scheduling, updates and short-term planning.
• Attend project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and action items.
• Assist with invoices, purchase orders and project financial documentation.
• Track project progress and communicate issues, delays and required actions.
• Participate in site visits and work closely with the field team.
• Assist with punch list, closeout, warranty and turnover documentation.

Pay range and compensation package

Projects are typically in the $15M-$20M range, with the company also delivering larger projects, including multifamily developments approaching $80M+.
