A nationally recognized heavy civil contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support major infrastructure projects across the Chicago area.
Working closely with project and field leadership, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This role offers significant responsibility, exposure to complex civil projects and a clear pathway toward Project Manager-level opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination and execution of heavy civil construction projects
- Partner with Superintendents, Project Engineers and senior management to achieve project objectives
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs and key milestones
- Assist with forecasting, cost reporting and profitability projections
- Review contract documents, drawings, specifications and project requirements
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders and subcontractor coordination
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders
- Identify potential schedule, scope and budget risks, taking action to keep projects on track
- Ensure compliance with company safety, quality and project procedures
- Mentor and support Project Engineers and junior project team members
- Provide regular progress updates and project reporting to senior leadership
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred
- Previous experience working on heavy civil, transportation, roadway, bridge or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, cost management and contract administration
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and supporting field operations
- Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills
- Ability to build productive relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $100,000 to $115,000
