Job summary

Just Construction Recruitment seeks an experienced Program Manager to lead planning, design, construction, and occupancy of healthcare facilities. The role is highly client-facing, coordinating between healthcare clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants.

The ideal candidate has a strong healthcare construction background, can manage budgets and schedules, and lead multidisciplinary teams through design development and execution.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive healthcare construction, development, or project management experience.
  • Experience leading projects from planning through occupancy.
  • Experience coordinating healthcare facilities with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead healthcare projects from concept through design, construction, and occupancy.
  • Coordinate feasibility, planning, and initiation activities with clients and partners.
  • Manage selection, negotiation, and oversight of architects, engineers, contractors.
  • Direct site evaluations, due diligence, zoning, permits, and regulatory tasks.
  • Oversee programming, planning, and design through development stages.
  • Review documents to ensure alignment with budgets and schedules.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, cash flow, and metrics.
  • Lead procurement, contracts, change orders, and cost controls.
  • Monitor construction with focus on quality, safety, infection prevention, risk.
  • Coordinate medical equipment, furniture, signage, and other components.
  • Prepare monthly reports, invoices, and executive status presentations.
  • Serve as liaison between clients, contractors, consultants, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation using PM platforms such as e-Builder.
  • Balance multiple projects while delivering high client service.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support objectives.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the planning, design, construction, and execution of healthcare facility projects from initial concept through occupancy.

This is a highly client-facing position, acting as the primary point of coordination between healthcare clients, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare construction or development and the ability to successfully manage complex projects, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead healthcare projects from concept and feasibility through design, construction, and occupancy
  • Support project feasibility, strategic planning, and project initiation activities
  • Lead the selection, negotiation, and management of architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other project partners
  • Coordinate site evaluations, due diligence, zoning, permitting, and regulatory requirements
  • Direct programming, planning, and design activities through design development
  • Review construction and design documents to ensure alignment with project objectives, budgets, and schedules
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, schedules, cash flow forecasts, and performance metrics
  • Lead contractor procurement and oversee contract administration, change orders, and cost-control initiatives
  • Monitor construction activities with a focus on quality, safety, infection prevention, schedule, and risk mitigation
  • Coordinate medical equipment, furniture, signage, and other project components
  • Prepare monthly budget reports, invoices, project status reports, and executive-level presentations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting using project management platforms such as e-Builder
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of client service
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to support overall project and client objectives
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive healthcare construction, development, or project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing healthcare projects through planning, design, preconstruction, construction, and occupancy
  • Experience with large-scale healthcare facilities preferred
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare construction, development, project delivery methods, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience managing budgets, forecasting, cost controls, scheduling, contracts, and consultant relationships
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate complex stakeholder groups
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with healthcare executives, administrators, physicians, and operational leaders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with e-Builder or similar project management/document control platforms preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Experience with healthcare construction, medical equipment planning, and infection prevention practices is a plus
