Job summary

PEPL is seeking a career-motivated, recent engineering graduate for the role of Assistant Project Manager (APM). You will work side-by-side with an experienced Project Manager on live commercial construction projects, learning the business from the ground up and embedded in real project workflows from day one.

The position offers mentorship, hands-on training, and professional development including support for a Masters program, with a defined growth trajectory toward becoming a Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management; 2025/2026 graduates welcome.
• Interest in commercial construction, HVAC/mechanical systems, or built environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfort with numbers and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day coordination of commercial mechanical projects.
• Track project schedules, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Help prepare and maintain project budgets, cost reports, and forecasts.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers on material procurement and delivery timelines.
• Attend job site walks and progress meetings with the PM to learn field coordination.
• Review shop drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals for accuracy.
• Support close-out documentation: O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts, and punch lists.
• Maintain project files, logs, and documentation in project management software.
• Assist with estimating and takeoffs on smaller projects or change orders as skills develop.
• Communicate professionally with clients, engineers, architects, and field crews.

This is a launchpad role - you'll work side-by-side with an experienced Project Manager on live commercial construction projects, learning the business from the ground up. What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management (2025/2026 graduates welcome)
• Strong interest in commercial construction, HVAC/mechanical systems, or the built environment
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable with numbers and technical drawings
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel especially); willingness to learn construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, or similar)
• Highly organized, self‑motivated, and eager to learn
• Ability to read/interpret mechanical drawings and specifications (or willingness to learn quickly)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for job site visits
• No prior industry experience required - we'll train the right person
