Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assist with RFIs, document control, and submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Summarize discussions and decisions from project meetings and owner meetings.
• Review specifications to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Help PM identify inspections and manage inspection logs; coordinate with inspectors.
• Update contract drawings for approved changes and ensure document updates.
• Support daily safety practices and capture progress and quality photos.

Our internship program provides undergraduate students opportunities to learn about different building types and delivery methods while gaining on-the-job experience in the various markets we build in.Christman Southeast Constructors is looking for an Assistant Project Engineer Intern for the upcoming Summer Internship Program in Knoxville, Tennessee!What You Will Do:As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.What You Will Bring to the Team:Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.Minimum 3.0 GPAPreferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.The Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
