Job summary

The Christman Company seeks an Assistant Project Engineer Intern to support construction teams in Memphis. You will work on RFI handling, document control, submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates under supervision of project professionals.

Responsibilities include aiding with meetings, inspections, and coordination with inspectors, while maintaining safety compliance and report generation. Students gain hands-on exposure to commercial construction processes on active projects.

Qualifications

• Active, full-time sophomore-senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.

What You Will Do

As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you play a crucial part in supporting the construction project team. Primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.


• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.


• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.


• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.


• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.


• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.


• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.


• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.


• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Bring To The Team

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.


• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, And Skills For This Role Include

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.


• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
