Assistant Project Controls Specialist - Financial Analyst

Job type and Duration: Contract to Hire

Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Controls Specialist - Cost and Financial Analyst for their team in La Jolla, CA. This role emphasizes financial analysis and forecasting experience.

The Assistant Project Controls Specialist will support various aspects of project controls and reporting, including:

• Project change management
• Cost control
• Progress measurement
• Schedule development and control

Responsibilities include:

1. Assist with project setup in the Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
2. Input data, maintain logs, and generate reports using the software or other tools.
3. Assist in creating Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
4. Develop and maintain scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts for small projects.
5. Follow project execution plans.
6. Review and approve Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for proper coding.
7. Document changes to cost reports or forecasts.
8. Support upstream (prime contract) and downstream (purchase order & subcontract) change orders.
9. Develop cash flow projections.
10. Assist in creating various levels of schedules and applying logic ties.
11. Coordinate project schedules and develop scheduling reports.
12. Retrieve, review, and distribute scheduling reports and documentation.
13. Update and document schedule progress.
14. Develop and maintain earned value management systems.
15. Verify progress measurements and develop progress curves.
16. Assist with material takeoffs, quality checks, and field audits to ensure reporting accuracy.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma + relevant experience OR Associate's degree + relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Construction Management, or related field) + relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree (non-related) + relevant experience
• Focus on Project Cost
• Experience with Oracle Primavera P preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• OSHA safety certification (ability to obtain if not already held)
