Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst - BI Reporting

About the Company

Our client is a mid-size (~$200MM) law firm known for top-tier legal services across various industries. They foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, empowering employees to grow professionally and contribute significantly. Due to growth, they seek a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead financial reporting and BI initiatives. The ideal candidate will excel in data analysis and financial reporting, with strong skills in SQL, DAX, and Power BI.

Role Overview

This role involves transforming financial data into actionable insights, enhancing reporting processes, conducting profitability analyses, and managing financial systems. The position offers exposure to diverse legal services, enabling cross-practice analysis and strategic decision-making. The candidate will benefit from the firm's stability and contribute to vital financial intelligence systems that drive performance.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain advanced financial reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI, focusing on timekeeper statistics, matter profitability, and practice area performance metrics.
2. Collaborate with the Controller during month-end close processes for 3E Cloud, ensuring data integrity and preparing financial reports.
3. Conduct detailed analyses across practice areas to identify trends and insights.
4. Create clear visual presentations of financial data for various stakeholders, including practice leaders and executives.
5. Co-administer financial reporting platforms like 3E Cloud and Data Insights, performing quality assurance and managing user access.
6. Develop and optimize SQL queries and DAX expressions for custom reporting needs.
7. Create documentation for reporting procedures to improve workflows and establish best practices.
8. Support system upgrades and implementations, ensuring continuous reporting capabilities.
9. Analyze WIP and AR trends across dimensions, focusing on fee arrangements such as contingency, fixed fee, hourly, and hybrid.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in financial analysis and BI, with at least 2 years in a mid-sized law firm or professional services.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, data analytics, accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certifications in Power BI, SQL, or Data Analysis are preferred.
• Experience working with diverse practice areas and fee structures.
• Advanced skills in Power BI, including data modeling, dashboard design, and DAX.
• Strong SQL skills for writing and optimizing complex queries.
• Experience with Elite 3E Cloud and Data Insights platforms is a plus.
