Shawmut Design and Construction hires an Assistant Project Accountant to support the Group Finance and Project Management teams. The role focuses on set‑up, maintenance, and close‑out of project financials, including budgets, cost codes, and templates, with strong attention to detail and customer service.

Ideal candidates 1–2 years in billing/accounting or recent finance grads, with Excel and CMiC/Textura familiarity. Hybrid Boston office role with ESOP and 401(k) benefits.

Responsibilities

• Support the project accounting and project teams in the life cycle, including setup of templates, cost codes, budgets, and database entries.
• Ensure accuracy and quality of all data entry and cost moves.
• Prepare supporting documentation for billings and audits.
• Assist in monthly financial reporting including cash flow data and WIP reports.
• Customize financial reports for project teams using existing templates.

Responsibilities

Shawmut is looking for an Assistant Project Accountant to support our Group Finance and Project Management teams in the set‑up, maintenance and close‑out of project financials. This role will be responsible for the entry and maintenance of financial tables, budgets, cost management move, etc. This is an ideal opportunity for an entry level accounting major who would enjoy the opportunity to be involved in different aspects of the project life cycle, working in a fast paced, collaborative environment while demonstrating a high attention to detail and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Project Accountant and project teams in the project financial life cycle, including: set‑up and preparation of templates, cost codes, entry of Schedule of Values, rate tables, budget entry, and project management database , etc.
• Ensure accuracy and quality of all data entry and cost moves
• Pulling and preparation of supporting documentation for billings and audits
• Assist in monthly financial reporting including entry of cash flow data, Work In Progress (WIP) reports, entering project write‑offs as assigned, entering labor study details, etc.
• Customize financial reports for project teams based on existing templates and additional reporting support
• Responds to all financial inquires in an accurate and timely manner
• Provides subcontractor specific reporting and details

Qualifications

Required:

• 1 -2 years of billing, accounting, or AP experience OR recent grad with an accounting or finance related degree
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated client focus and ability to work effectively with others at all levels of the organization
• Strong sense of urgency

Nice to have:

• Experience in the construction/engineering industry
• CMiC and/or Textura experience
• Strong Excel skills

Salary Range Information

Boston Base Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 The range stated is specific to Boston. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
