Job summary

Town of Oakville is seeking a part-time Inclusion Services coordinator to supervise staff and volunteers and support inclusive recreation programming, events and camps. You will handle registrations, maintain records, and assist with scheduling and payroll for part-time staff.

The role requires a post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure and a minimum of 2 years of direct programming experience.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with direct programming in a recreation setting.
  • Strong customer service and professional communication with internal and external customers.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Candidates must have access to a vehicle.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED Responder required.
  • HIGH FIVE certification would be an asset.
  • BMST training would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling and payroll of part-time staff.
  • Assist in screening, supervision, orientation and training of volunteers.
  • Provide administrative and programming support to the Program Supervisor - Child, Youth and Camps.
  • Assist with program registration and inputting of program information using the recreation registration system.
  • Maintain membership database and accurate program records and statistics.
  • Assist with tracking or repairs, purchasing supplies and inventory.
  • Adhere to Corporate Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend required staff training and scheduled meetings.
  • This position works non-traditional hours including PA days, school breaks as well as daytime, weekends and evenings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • The successful applicant will have a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Recreation and Leisure, or equivalent related field and a minimum of 2 years’ experience with direct programming in a recreation setting. An equivalent of education and experience will be considered.
  • The successful candidate will have well-honed customer service skills that demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers.
  • Computer proficiency is essential; specifically experience using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Candidates must have access to a vehicle.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR 'C' and AED Responder required.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development certification would be an asset
  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMST) would be an asset
