Job Description:

Position Purpose Summary:

The Assistant Coordinator provides day-to-day supervision to the departmental staff and provides assistance, guidance, and support in the development and delivery of Bethany Home’s program goals and objectives in collaboration with the Program Supervisor. As scheduled by the Residential Services supervisor, this role works on call for staff.

Supervision:

  • in orientation and training of new employees.
  • and promote quality of service in accordance with governmental contract guidelines and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Program Supervisor with staff schedules.
  • to and resolve complaints from participants in the program and act on crises happening in the house in a timely manner.
  • day-to-day supervision to the Bethany Home staff and provide guidance, training, support, and assistance.
  • Bethany Home staff to conduct room checks of regular clients to monitor rooms to be kept neat, clean, tidy, and free of illegal substances.
  • that all Administrative, Personnel, and Program and other Crossroads Residential Services Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
  • as on-call support by providing guidance, assistance, and direction to staff. Provide backup support to and/or assume functions in program areas as needed. Respond to incidents and issues and report them to the Residential Services Supervisor as per policy.
  • on, make recommendations and provide input and support to the Residential Services Supervisor as it relates to the program’s policies and procedures and residential issues and concerns.
  • Assist the Residential Services Supervisor in developing and coordinating the delivery of designated employees in the absence of the Residential Services Supervisor.

2. Bethany Home Program:
  • Participate in or delegate the conduct of room searches according to policy; ensure documentation of searches and results in the logbook.
  • employees maintain the security and upkeep of the building.
  • with Case Workers (Ministry of Social Services) and other Community Based Organizations.
  • collaboration with the Residential Services Supervisor, assess, design, implement, monitor and evaluate all Bethany Home programs and interventions and ensure that program/intervention content, structure and delivery are consistent with The Salvation Army Crossroads Residential Services (CRS) and Bethany Home guidelines.
  • support to help fulfill accreditation standards.
  • that departmental information flow is clear, unimpeded, and complete to and from staff and residents within Bethany Home.
  • and lead regular house meetings between residents and staff of Bethany Home programs.
  • in the local OH&S committee regularly.
  • that the Mission of The Salvation Army is actively presented in a sensitive and effective. manner to participants, staff and the public.
  • communication with the Residential Services Supervisor, works with the Ministry of Social Services for reporting and communicating with MSS staff regarding residents and potential residents.
  • develop and facilitate programs relevant to client’s needs, in consultation with the Residential Services Supervisor.
  • client intakes are completed and ensure new clients are orientated with Bethany Home’s rules and regulations.
  • and/or actively participate in client Assessment and related Bethany Home meetings.
3. Administration, Documentation & Reporting:
  • familiarity with funder requirements and contract agreements related to Bethany Home programs and assists the Residential Services Supervisor in fulfilling reporting requirements to funder standards.
  • that staff maintain accurate, comprehensive, legible, and current client file records.
  • assist the Residential Services Supervisor with statistical reports (SAMIS) or business-related matters.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

Internal: MU leadership and staff, Case Conferences, OH&S, Staff Meetings, clients

External: Government of Saskatchewan Social Services Department, Community Organizations, Police

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
  • position reports directly to the Residential Services Supervisor.
  • Responsible as a group/work leader; responsible for assigning work, ensuring the workflow is
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
  • role will have a credit card to support approved purchases for programming.
  • Ensures compliance with the approved budget and authorizes minor financial expenditures previously discussed with the Residential Services Supervisor.
  • Oversees and checks the maintenance and care of program facilities, including equipment and furnishings, and ensures compliance with all municipal licensing standards, including fire, water, Occupational Health & Safety, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The work environment is typically in an office or a work site within a residential and community setting which potentially exposes staff to disagreeable people, unpleasant odors, toxic chemicals, bodily fluids, moving objects, sharp objects, slippery or wet surfaces, infectious diseases potential abuse, and marginalized people
  • lift up to 20 lbs. and use computers regularly
  • have some travel required
  • work on call for the majority of the week and may be exposed to the potential pressure of meeting timelines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
  • minimum of a two-year formal post-secondary/college program diploma in a social services-related field
  • combination of experience and education may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
  • years of prior related experience, including experience in a social service setting, supervision, budgeting, working with marginalized individuals, and a social services background
  • certification in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and Non-violent crisis intervention training would be valued assets.
  • experience with Microsoft Office, internet, and keyboarding.
  • understanding of the Behavior Based Model.

This is a full time position at 40 hours per week.
Starting pay rate per CBA is $28.69 per hour.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $28.69 to $29.24 with a maximum of $29.79.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
