Job summary

Acceptional Minds LLC is seeking a Full Time Assistant Program Coordinator to support Youth and Self-Determination programs, working 8-10 hour days across 4-5 days per week, with hours Monday through Saturday and additional summer hours. The role requires flexibility to cover service hours and direct work with clients on the floor during community outings.

Job description

Acceptional Minds LLC is a family focused support and mentoring program whose primary goal is providing assistance to families affected by autism and other mental health issues through mentoring and education. As our name implies, we value Acceptance and meeting people where they are at.

Acceptional Minds is currently seeking a Full Time Assistant Program Coordinator working 8-10 hour days (4-5 days a week) supporting our Youth and Self-Determination programs that provide support 7am-7-pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm on Saturday and 8am-5pm during the summer. Assistant Coordinators are expected to be able to flex their schedule during service hours to provide support where needed.

Duties/Responsibilities

Assists with implementing activities that enhance existing programming.

  • Assists Coordinators with creating and maintaining community connections to enhance programming
  • Ability to flex schedule to support all client programming
  • Assists team members with programming.
  • Utilizes written and visual directions for activities.
  • Trains staff members in programming techniques.
  • Models building adaptations to existing programming for student success
  • Work directly with clients on the floor on community outings.
  • Transports clients safely to and from community outings.

Assists coordinators with contacting client support systems (families, schools, etc.)

  • Maintain contact, creating a connection, with families/guardians, case workers, schools, etc. under the direction of the Coordinators.
  • Communicates center programming and client updates and information internally and externally under the direction of the Coordinators
  • Maintains appropriate client, family, and company confidentiality.

Crisis Support

  • Model proper Ukeru and Handle with Care techniques on the floor
  • Assists client de-escalations as needed within the buildings and on outings, including, but not limited to verbal deescalation techniques, leading other staff to clear the room if needed, and utilizing proper Ukeru and Handle with Care techniques.
  • Taps out and gives staff members breaks as needed.

Keeps the center clean and organized

  • Ensures daily center cleaning.
  • Ensures resource upkeep and organization.
  • Follows opening and closing procedures.

Candidate Requirements & Preferences
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special needs and behavior self-regulation challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programing
  • Ability to flexible with programming to meet individual client needs
  • Must demonstrate a calm, kind, and open demeanor
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to future plan
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environments
  • Strong demonstrated ability to write client notes and incident reports accurately and on time
  • Understanding and knowledge of working with a diverse population of staff, as well as clients and their support systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow Handle with Care and Ukeru guidelines
  • Strong verbal de-escalation skills
  • Exceptional divided attention skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to plan schedules within center ratios and adjust as needed.
  • Must be over 18 and posses a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.
Physical Requirements
  • *Must be able to safely perform a restraint under the training and guidance of Handle with Care training
  • *Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • *Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist children throughout the day.
  • *Must be able to lift to 10lbs routinely and up to 50lbs occasionally
