The University of South Florida seeks a 9-month, full-time, tenure-earning Assistant Professor in Structural Geology, starting August 7, 2026. We seek an innovative scholar advancing teaching and research in Structural Geology with interdisciplinary links to geophysics, tectonics and volcanology.

Salary is negotiable. The successful candidate will lead an externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, and contribute to department and university

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a closely related field is required.
  • ABD candidates may apply, must be conferred by start date Aug 7, 2026.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active externally funded research program and teach at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Advise graduate students and contribute to department and university services.
  • Develop courses such as introductory geology, structural geology, tectonics, and field mapping, including summer field work at the Idaho field station.
